Miami's contribution to electronic music history is massive and underappreciated. In the late 1980s and early 1990s, Miami was the birthplace of Miami Bass — an 808-heavy, low-end-driven genre that directly influenced the development of electronic dance music globally, from UK Garage to Trap.
Artists like 2 Live Crew, KC Shy Guy, and Magix Musik established a sonic identity for South Florida that still influences producers working today.
